COURSE 04 Maple Yaba Cycling Road
A cycling road filled with exciting variety, including tunnels and bridges once used for the railway
Utilizing the tracks of the Yabakei Railway which went out of service in 1975, and sporting relatively gentle climbs, this cycling road is great for beginners. Enjoy the beautiful valleys and rural scenery of Yabakei Gorge, or come during the fall foilage season for a plethora of like-minded cyclists.

Yabakei Cycling Terminal
As a central point on the Maple Yaba Cycling Road, this terminal offers rental bikes, accomodations, shower facilities and more for cyclists who visit from all over Japan. With parking available, the more than 250 rental cycles range from road bikes and electronic-assist bicycles, to kids' bikes and more. Bring the family and experience the beautiful scenery of Yabakei Gorge on bicycle.

Ao-no-Dōmon Cycling Center
Situated along the Yamakuni River, this cycling center is fully equipped with rental cycles and a retro campground. It's also on the Maple Yaba Cycling Road and National Road 212, making it a great place to stop by for cyclists.

Yabakei Bridge
Yabakei Bridge is located downstream from Aonodomon, and was completed in 1923. Japan's only 8-arch stone bridge, it is also Japan's longest stone arch bridge. Designated as one of Oita Prefectures tangible cultural properties, it is known as one of Japans' top 100 famous bridges. Passable on bicycle, it is definitely worth a visit.
