SAFETY INFORMATION
For those who wish to cycle in Oita Prefecture
-
Bicycles are vehicles. As such, cyclists must ride safely and most follow the rules of the road and stay on the left-side of the road while following all traffic laws and regulations.
-
If riding in a group, ride in single file. Do not ride side-by-side.
-
For your safety, always wear a helmet.
- When riding on footpaths where cyclists are allowed, continue slowly on the side closest to the road, and do not get in the way of pedestrians.
- Be assertive about using hand signals to show other vehicles when you are going to stop or change lanes.
- Do not overestimate your own endurance, and take frequent breaks. Rest at a Cycle Friendly spot whenever you feel tired.
- Riding at night increases the risk of accidents and other potentially dangerous trouble, so plan your cycling course accordingly. If you must cycle at night, always use a light.
